Job Description

Education

:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study or equivalent years of related work experience required

Work Experiences

  • 8+ years of Retail experience required - Utilization experience in visual merchandising, marketing, brand development and financial planning required
  • 6+ years in visual merchandising, creative, marketing, design, or similar experience
  • 3+ years of supervisory or management experience preferred

  • Strong leadership profile with ability to consistently apply sound judgment, creative and branded solutions that produce strong, high impact and visually effective solutions for the team to execute to.
  • Creative design sense that can provide multiple solutions for each project and optional cost sources to deliver projects on time and on budget in both a high pressured and relaxed environment.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and oversees Creative Manager and Specialist team in the completion of all Visual Creative Projects supportive of Key Merchandise Strategies and Seasonal Impacts to deliver high caliber results and a dynamic customer experience in store. Targeted results must reach Creative expectations coupled with Sales expectations.
  • Works directly and cross functionally with Marketing Senior Director in development and execution of all Academy Branded initiatives and goals. Manage Creative Manager through the development of short and long term Creative Visual goals and assets that support the Academy Vision for a more dynamic store and customer experience.
  • Manage and oversee the Creative team’s process of securing multiple bids on all visuals and special projects as required and supportive of Academy’s process and procedures.
  • Conduct business analysis meetings with merchants, space planning and creative specialists in support of the annual line review/planogram planning process.
  • Develop and maintain training documents for merchants and category space planners using system supported reports and templates.
  • Responsible for internal & corporate facility visuals for all Company Meetings including Town Hall, Seasonal Kick Offs, Regional / District Meetings and the similar.
  • Strategic planning of Visual Merchandise budgets for annual Expense at 4.3M+ and Capital at 5.4M+ insuring accurate reporting, support, and budget detail for each by the Budget Manager. Provide required updates to Senior Director and VP as needed.
  • Lead the Special Project & Stores team to design, plan and implement strategic or special projects including new stores, update stores, new vendor shops and new merchandising and new visual concepts to drive sales and profit.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including Procurement, Store Design, Retail Operations and outside vendors in distributing all merchandise fixture requirements needed for all new & update store projects
  • Plan and coordinate all strategic executive store sessions including seasonal store walks, BOD store walks, RVP/DM/SD walks and all other required strategic meetings.
  • Drive Creative and Special project teams for all strategic vendor initiatives, store communication, store installation and visual merchandise presentation review.
  • In partnership with Sr. Category Manager and Impact team, manage and maintain all corporate office POG rooms. Partner cross-functionally to deliver high impact prototype store sets. Provide accurate fixture and Visual references within POG rooms for stronger understanding of actual store set. Tests all samples for accuracy both in POGS and in-store to minimize mistakes and costly re-runs.
  • Remain current and observe industry trends to apply best-in-class practices
  • Hire, develop, manage, and objectively and fairly evaluate direct reports and their teams
  • Support and promote a thorough understanding of Academy policies, procedures, and safety rules
  • Duties may change: team member may be required to perform other projects and duties as assigned

  • Adhere to company work hours, policies, procedures and rules governing professional staff behavior
  • Ability to work flexible hours such as evening, weekends and holidays as necessary
  • Up to 15% travel, overnight stays as required
