Senior Technical Designer

This role bridges the gap between the Development and Production Technical teams, while overseeing all tech related aspects of design. This role oversees all development of styles, coordinating of development fittings and manages all changes and communication with our factories to achieve the brand’s design goals.
Skill Requirements
Strong knowledge in luxury garment construction, finishing and drape
Strong knowledge of a range of fabrications and their behaviors
Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator and Excel. Knowledge of PLM/WebPDM a plus
7-10 years industry experience in Technical Design
Excellent fitting knowledge and experience
Team management experience
In depth knowledge of pattern making and sewing
Highly solution oriented and organized
Responsibilities
Strong awareness and management of the development calendar deadlines
Must have a strong knowledge of garment fit, woven specs and garment construction
Management of and collaboration with Tech Design Associate daily regarding delegation of work, duties in the fittings and active solutions to fit and design issues in collection
Coordination and scheduling of development fittings
Supervision and running of development fittings
Coordination, scheduling and preparation for prototype reviews with all cross-functional teams
Coordinate and run style pass off meetings with design and product development teams
Work closely with design and product development to set up initial tech packs with garment technical specifications and clear construction details
Manage all tech packs throughout the design/development/pre-production process
Facilitate hand-off packages to factories and ensure construction and fit adjustments are carried out on time and accurately
Following up with factories if prototypes do not reflect our design requests, holding them accountable
Edit tech packs to clearly communicate pattern changes and corrections to factories
Manage all communication with factories/sample makers through final and approved SMS
Ensure all samples are properly spec’d and tracked; Keep organized records of template garment specification and/or construction standards and monitor all new developments for consistency
Prepare pre-production tech packs to hand off for Production Tech team
Help calculate accurate yields for local patterns prior to costing
Organize and keep track of pattern block library
Advise on all aspects of fittings, technical issues, finishing, and construction
Work alongside Manager of PD to develop and manage fit approval deadlines
