Job description

Senior UX Product Designer

Senior Product Designers at J.Crew and Madewell play a key role in the definition, design and optimization of digital experiences & user interfaces. They show initiative and ownership of large projects and are seen as a leader in their cross-functional teams. They help form coherent product concepts from sometimes ambiguous requirements and are accountable for design outcomes and product quality.

Senior designers advocate for design thinking in the organization and encourage an ethos of hypothesis, testing, and continuous improvement. They contribute to project roadmaps and prioritization as a champion for customers and impact. They mentor other designers towards skill development and growth.

UX DESIGN

Displaying and articulating a strong understanding of information architecture and complex, cross-platform flows. Consistently considers the entire user experience of the brand, potential customer journeys and product overlap and is attune to both opportunities and potential collisions between different products, features and platforms.s

UI & DESIGN PATTERNS

Balancing existing visual and UI patterns with platform-specific patterns to ensure a consistent, intuitive experience. Senior designers have an eye towards the integrity and evolution of our design systems and UI kits, with a holistic consideration for how the elements of our commerce platform combine to form the customer experience of each brand.

VISUAL DESIGN

Demonstrating and communicating an understanding of layout, typography and visual hierarchy. Using brand style guides and existing visual frameworks creatively to produce designs as well as creating new styles and patterns that are cohesive with the rest of our digital products.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Owning iterative product design of major digital e-commerce projects across channels, platforms and in-store experiences
  • Thorough customer journey mapping and persona exploration to evolve and optimize site experiences and use cases
  • Leveraging user research and analytics in collaboration with product managers to inform product features, specifications and the definition successful outcomes
  • Integrating specific user considerations, unknowns and product hypotheses into testing scenarios and optimization plans
  • Partnering closely with creative teams to design new customer experiences, and partnering with engineers to realize those designs on all touchpoints
  • Communicating design concepts and compelling product storytelling that is tailored for various audiences in the organization
  • Managing multiple projects and competing priorities in a dynamic business environment
  • Interpret business needs, objectives, and direction from multiple stakeholders and integrate feedback appropriately into product experiences
  • QUALIFICATIONS

    • Relevant experience in designing customer-facing digital experiences
    • Strong knowledge of modern and emerging web and mobile UI patterns
    • Experience with design tools such as Sketch, Figma and Invision for design, collaboration & presentation
    • Fluency in both visual design principles & development fundamentals to collaborate with cross-functional teams in their languages
    • A great portfolio of work or case studies that demonstrate your skills in user experience, product thinking and design
    • This role reports into the VP of Digital Experience for J.Crew Group.
