Job Title: Senior Designer, Handbags

Primary Purpose: To conceptualize, create, and develop designs for mainline handbags.

The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in design to...

Manage the design process from conception through production.

Conduct market / trend research.

Actively participate in the conceptual development of product lines (i.e., ability to communicate and sell ideas/concepts).

Provide recommendations regarding seasonal themes, edits to line, new concepts, etc.

Ensure that product is of high quality and consistent with market trends, as well as business strategy.

Work with technical designer and pre-production partner to ensure design packages are complete and accurate, meeting deadlines in a timely manner

Partner with merchandising to assort line and develop product appropriate for each channel's business needs.

Partake in occasional travel for research and/or product development is potentially required.

Execute corrections as needed; works with merchandising and production to find appropriate solutions to cost or construction issues.

The accomplished individual will possess...

College degree in fashion design or a related field preferred.

8+ years design experience, current experience in a Senior Designer role is preferred

Experience designing handbags.

Strong computer knowledge, including adobe illustrator.

Strong leadership skills required.

Strong ability to hand sketch.

Strong design and conceptual skills.

Strong sense of trends, style and color.

Shape building skills required.

SLG experience a plus.

Thorough knowledge of raw materials, as well as, construction techniques.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Understanding of merchandising as it relates to sales and store environment.

Strong understanding of product development process and development calendar
