About the Role

In this role, you will be accountable for setting the Old Navy end-to-end fit engineering strategy and leading the Technical Design team. You will be a strong collaborator and influencer with cross-functional partners and vendors to define brand standards, translate design concepts into specifications, execute design aesthetics, and maintain consistent fit that flatters across customers of all shapes and sizes. You will accelerate the implementation and scaling of virtual fit engineering workflows and processes leveraging digital product creation platforms (e.g. CLO 3D and Centric PLM). You will implement lean-agile product creation practices to drive efficiency and balance project and seasonal workload. You will partner closely Consumer Insights, Voice of Consumer (VOC) and data science teams to establish mechanisms to leverage consumer data to validate Old Navy standards, mitigate risk in product creation, inform product iterations and continuous improvements of our most loved products. And lastly, you will be responsible for providing direction to expand and leverage vendor fit engineering capabilities within our production ecosystem.

What You'll Do

  • Leads Old Navy Technical Design team including establishing the team and developing team members
  • Builds a culture that drives simplification, eliminates redundant, non-value add work and streamlines process
  • Drives the end-to-end development, execution, and communication of Old Navy's Technical Design and fit engineering strategy
  • Sets vision and strategies to create value through aligning supply chain capabilities with brand product architecture, design direction and inventory opportunities
  • Collaborates with, and influences key stakeholders including Design, Sourcing, Merchandising, Fabric R&D, and Quality
  • Develops Old Navy Technical Design roadmap and operational plan to delivery on our strategy
  • Serves as thought leader for fit excellence; proactively identifies and communicates business issues by researching market, competitive, consumer, vendor, and other relevant trends to bring recommended best practices in market to leadership team to inform practices
  • Supports virtual try on (VTO) and other initiatives to enhance customer fit selection and experience
  • Drives organizational effectiveness by fostering understanding of the value within product creation and clearly delineate roles across teams
  • Create and maintain a positive environment that promotes high performance standards and attainment of goals
  • The Senior Director of Technical Design will report to the VP, Production - Technical Design, Fabric R&D, Quality and Sustainability

Profile

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA or other graduate degree preferred
  • 15+ years of experience including significant product Technical Design as well as sourcing/supply chain, product development, and/or production experience
  • 6+ years of people management experience
  • Thrives in a highly collaborative environment, working with diverse cultures, and influencing people
  • Strong project management and communication skills as well as ability to work successfully with peers, teams, and executives in a matrixed organization
  • Knowledge of how apparel and non-apparel industry businesses, strategies and the competition operate in the marketplace, and ability to use this knowledge to inform and influence strategies and practices
  • Experience working for a corporation with multiple brands
  • Experience driving change in a corporation with a complex supply chain
  • Experience in manufacturing, economic evaluations, and operations management
  • Domestic and international travel may be required up to 10-15% of time
