Role: Studio Assistant Student Placement

Location: Central London

Hours: Full Time, 12 month placement

Halfpenny London are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking placement student to join the Atelier team on a full time basis within a fast paced environment.

The ideal candidate would have:

Machine and hand sewing ability
Basic pattern cutting knowledge
Self-driven, resourceful & responsible
Eagerness to learn and work within the team
Willingness to complete a variety of tasks
Be proactive, detail oriented and take initiative in all given tasks.

Tasks may include, but not limited to:

Fabric handling, cutting for toiles and finished garments in final fabrics
Sampling, hand sewing and finishing
Assisting our seamstresses where possible to complete new development and bridal alterations
Cutting for both toiles and finished garments in final fabrics
Assuring quality control and brand standards are upkept throughout all products
Making accessories for collection development and bridal orders
General organisation of the atelier including patterns, fabrics, samples, tools etc.
General studio errands

What you will learn:

Professional industry standards within a bridal atelier
Stages and processes of both sampling and production
Working with final fabrics and cutting techniques
Sewing skills, and construction techniques both by hand and machine
Working within a collaborative team to learn and apply advice to product
Introduction to production procedures within the industry

Although this position is for the Atelier team, the successful candidate will be expected when required to undertake tasks from all areas of the business, and gain many skills relating to the running of a thriving company at an exciting stage of growth.
