MERSEA is always looking for like-minded talent to join our team has an opening for a Technical Designer to be a part of the journey. This person must be able to optimize existing systems, processes, and people to support our growth and maintain our high standards while being able to envision future needs and how to meet them.
Job Description Details
The Technical Designer will work closely with the Product Development Managers in the execution of the technical development of MERSEA’s apparel programs to ensure that product specification, fit and construction meet MERSEA’s quality standards. The responsibilities include:
- Work with product development and merchandising to translate product concepts into technical drawing. Experience in flat sketching and illustrating.
- Produce thorough and accurate technical drawings, proto sheets, construction and packaging specifications.
- Create production spec tech packs for each style, including QC callouts, packaging, and embroidery.
- Develop initial sampling and graded measurement charts for all sizes.
- Partner with product development in the review of developed samples for fit and construction.
- Receive, evaluate, and communicate feedback and approvals for all production fabrics.
- Measure and evaluate PP/SMS samples as they come in, schedule fittings and communicate final feedback and approval to vendors/factories.
- Help with apparel quality control on bulk shipments.
- Communicate closely with vendors and factories to promote strong working relationships.
An ideal candidate would have:
- Knowledge of fabrics, fit, and pattern grading
- An understanding of apparel construction for both woven and knitted products
- Experience fitting on live models
- Experience working with overseas manufacturers
- Experience with web-based PLM systems
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills
- Experience with Excel, Dropbox, Google suite, and Adobe Creative Cloud
- Positive, high energy, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
- Self-motivation with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work well within a creative team
- Ability to think proactively and solve problems
- Ability to work autonomously on key deliverables
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
