Job description

POSITION TITLE: Technical Designer

POSITION PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for the initiation of technical packages to vendors for prototypes through production. The position holds responsibility for ensuring the consistency of the fit, specification, quality and construction of the product are up to GUESS standards. The incumbent will also be responsible for reviewing all production ready technical packages prior to production.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Work with Designers to develop the fit and specification for the prototype sample, formulate corrections and provide solutions as appropriate. Conduct fit sessions on live models, review overall fit, and confirm all details of the garment.

Responsible for fit and construction integrity. Establish specifications and construction requirements for each garment type as per GUESS standards. Review and revise spec sheets to confirm their accuracy.

Give direction to Spec Writers to complete spec packages. Organize workflow within the department based on delivery and production time and action calendar. Conduct detailed proto reviews vs. tech packs for key measurements, BOMs and constructions. Maintain library of approved samples and patterns.

Communicate fit revisions and comments to vendors in a technical package format. Approve fit and construction for each prototype. Develop and use standard blocks for each product category. Develop and maintain on-time execution of vendor-ready tech packs, including construction sketches, fabrics and trims, construction details, bills of materials, measurement charts and graded specifications.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 2-4 Years
