This position is responsible for all technical design related to garment fit and specs. Need to be able to interpret and translate the vision of Designer into the production. With a wide range of

Job Description:
Define and Manage Fit
- Develop standard fit specifications within each category and/or product group to ensure consistency throughout product lines
- Provide pattern making and fitting expertise to the design and development process
- Prepare and correct pattern to Fit Intent/fitting comments
- Utilize existing or new patterns to restructure and enhance product.
- Review and fit samples on models – provide fit recommendation and direction with Design, Development, and Merchandising teams
- Initiate fit sessions including but not limited to: model selection, scheduling, and model management
- Product Construction Process
- Provide technical recommendations to create consistency of fit/construction and to help achieve design concepts and category initiatives
- Anticipate pattern development issues and advise alternative solutions
- Perform pattern corrections necessary correlated a fit and/or requested changes
- Communicate design concept to generate a 2-D pattern that incorporates proportional lines, fit requirements and construction feasibility
- Apply knowledge of grading, fabrics, fit and costing
- Maintain construction standards for use in manufacturing
- Style Documentation and Communication
- Ensure consistent and organized development documentation is maintained for assigned styles, i.e. tech pack, development style count, and sample tracking reports.
- Audit and comment on prototypes
- Create and update visual representation of style in line drawing format
- Create detailed construction drawing as needed to communicate design to factory and team members
- Creation of and maintenance of tech packs
- Effectively communicate technical design specifications and modifications to category cross functional team members.
Company overseas location and Direct supplier communications
- Communicate precisely with overseas branches or Direct suppliers on all technical issues to help them get a stronger understanding of garment fit and constructions.
- Collaborate with the suppliers via supplier trip on Tech Design expectation training to understand the work procedure properly.
- Work closely with the suppliers to meet the crucial deadlines by providing technical expertise and expedite sample approval process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Apparel/Textile design or a related field
- Minimum 5 years experience as a technical designer in apparel
- Extensive knowledge of garment construction, material construction and properties, and pattern-making
- Strong skills and understanding of garment sewing processes
- Detailed understanding of the design and development process from inception through production
- Ability to interpret design intent and offer alternative solutions
- Knowledge of garment fit and the ability to give instructions on necessary changes to a pattern to influence the fit
- Strong information seeking and problem solving skills
- Attention to detail and the ability to communicate written and verbal information clearly and effectively
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group
- Computer skills including Excel, Adobe Illustrator, outlook.
- Proficient in Gerber Accumark pattern-making system required.
