SALARY

The compensation for this position ranges from $30 to $35 (hourly). The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidate's relevant skills and experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Marc Jacobs International, powered by the creative genius of Marc Jacobs, seeks aTemp - Assistant Designer, Jewelryto join theDesign Accessoriesteam based in its New York City (SoHo) headquarters. Marc Jacobs International is part of the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH) fashion division and operates in the wholesale and direct to consumer retail markets.

Our ideal candidate has stellar organization skills, great attention to detail and can thrive in a fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities include sketching, CADs, color ups and preparing technical specs to send to our overseas vendors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with the Design Director to sketch out seasonal jewelry
  • Create technical specs in Illustrator to launch styles for all stages of the process (Protos, SMS, Final comment sheets)
  • Publish and update spec sheets in PLM. Make sure all styles are up to date with correct details and dimensions
  • Create and update color cards seasonally. Create CADs for color options
  • Help create and maintain seasonal boards and presentations for best communication with cross-functional partners
  • Understand the Marc Jacobs Customer and brand positioning
  • Operate within the given design calendar
  • Ability to work closely with other design team members to help design a cohesive collection
  • Research and stay on top of current trends & apply trends to product design
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in Art or Fashion
  • 1-3 years experience.
  • Expertise and technical knowledge of jewelry design.
  • Digital and hand sketching ability
  • Proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft office (word, powerpoint, excel...)
  • Excellent taste level & brand awareness.
  • Strong sense of color, fashion, product & knowledge of trends.
  • Strong organizational, time management, written & verbal communication and presentation skills
  • In compliance with theOrder of New York City's Commissioner of Health and Mental Hygiene to Require COVID-19 Vaccination in the Workplace, candidates will need to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination by their first day of employment.
ABOUT MARC JACOBS:

Born in NYC in 1963, Marc Jacobs graduated from Parsons School of Design, where he was the youngest designer ever to receive the CFDA's Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent. In 1992, Jacobs showed his grunge collection for Perry Ellis. In April 1994, he successfully debuted his eponymous collection. Since then, he's spearheaded countless successful ready-to-wear, handbag, fragrance, cosmetics & book launches.
