Textile Designer (Freelance)
Lulu and Georgia offers elevated essentials and coveted statement pieces for an inspired home. Launched in 2012 and based in Los Angeles, California, the e-commerce home décor company focuses on designing and thoughtfully curating the best in interior design—and making it accessible.
Lulu and Georgia is looking for a Freelance Textile Designer. This is a part-time role (10-20 hrs per week) and that reports to our Senior Director of Product.
Responsibilities:
- Execute patterns and prints decided on by the design team, design original artworks, and repeat layouts appropriate to concept direction and designs needs
- Create textile and wallpaper designs as they relate to the L&G customer
- Research and discover emerging pattern trends and inspiration
- Work on revisions based on submits from the design team after sampling
- Scan, clean up, re-color, and create repeats for fabrics, wallcovering, upholstery, drapery, or rugs, using the company’s archive of designs, inspiration artwork, or your own artwork.
- Based on the direction, put together a package of print and pattern ideas to be reviewed by product development members.

Requirements:
- Three to five years of experience and a degree from a college or university with a focus on design, illustration, or textile design for fashion
- Candidate must have experience with CAD, Mac OSX, MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite 2 or higher and strong Photoshop and/or Illustrator skills
- Hand illustration techniques experience a plus
- Awareness of the home décor industry and trends
- Understanding of the Lulu and Georgia customer and aesthetic
- Possesses strong communication, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task and plan for prioritization as needed
- Strong digital/graphic skills
- Technical knowledge of embroidery, yarn dye, jacquard technique, and fabric base knowledge to successfully create artworks
- Understanding of various rug constructions, their scale, and specifications for design requirements
- Strong communication skills, timely follow-through of key initiatives, time management, project management
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Be on top of projects and know the status of timing and key milestones, and be responsible for ensuring that clients and team members are kept up to date on project status
- Manage process flow and project timelines to deliver designs on time
- Drive quality at every stage of the process
- Expert hand-drawing skills and color sense
