Role Responsibility

As Design Manager, you will work on the concept and design of all London windows and brief visuals to the windows visualiser to create visuals for sign off and production. Maintaining cultural awareness to ensure designs are at the leading edge of current trends. Managing and working closely with the Windows Designer. Working alongside the VM team and regional Creative Presentation teams to design and develop instore schemes and installations.

As Design Manager, you will be a key support to team and manager by:

  • Presenting visual ideas/concepts in an inspiring way with a clear and simple message to the wider business
  • Working closely with the other creative delivery teams to ensure alignment across scheme
  • Producing written and visual work that is accurate and professionally presented
  • Having a strong creative understanding & the ability to translate this into exceptional window designs
Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Designs windows for London based on seasonal concepts briefed by the Creative Direction team
  • Works closely with the Styling Manager and Production Manager in the lead up to and during installation to ensure the delivery of windows is smooth
  • Creates graphics and artwork for windows alongside the graphics team
  • Works closely with the Creative Direction team to develop designs in line with the overarching theme for the scheme
  • Provides input towards the windows installation calendar per scheme
  • Provides detailed creative briefs for the Production team to plan installation
  • Produces mood boards and sketches for communication & presentation to team, head of department and directors as needed
  • Briefs the CAD/3D operator to create computer renderings of sketches to present at steering meetings and wider business sign offs
  • Constantly researches key design trends for current and future seasons
  • Shop the competition to ensure that Selfridges is the destination for visual impact
  • Work closely with the Production Manager and their team to ensure that creative concepts are delivered on time and within budget
  • Ensures creative briefs are fully understood by the production team prior to installation
  • Works closely with and supports Windows Designer
  • Works with brand and artists on collaborative window projects
  • Works with the regional and London VM teams to develop their ideas in line with the windows schemes
  • Share best practice with colleagues and team
  • Develop strong, effective working relationships within the business e.g. Creative Direction, Graphics, Marketing and VM teams
  • Present window designs at business wide steering meetings and sign-offs where needed
  • Identify development needs, propose ideas and costs to deliver
  • Conduct performance reviews with team and develop a strong team dynamic
  • Motivate team to achieve targets by monitoring performance, giving feedback and addressing any concerns
