Marea by Liz Joy, a women’s RTW apparel company, is seeking a Women's Apparel Designer to join our talented team. The Marea brand is quickly expanding and we are looking for an experienced, passionate, creative individual, capable of crafting exceptional designs and bringing them to life.The position is based in our Fairfield, Connecticut studio and reports to the Designer and Founder. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and a team player, with an excellent eye for detail and a deep understanding of the latest fashion trends. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work closely with the Founder on bringing exciting concepts to life and contributing to the growth of our brand.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Fashion Design or similar field.
Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Women's Apparel Designer.
Strong design portfolio showcasing a range of styles and techniques.
Proficient in computer-aided design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
In-depth knowledge of textile and garment construction, fabrics, trends and dye processes.
Excellent time management, project management and organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Flexibility to work with overseas vendors on an on demand cadence.
Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
- Work closely alongside Founder and CEO in conceptualizing, designing and developing brand appropriate, trend driven seasonal collections that align with the Marea aesthetic and target demographic with flexibility across a wide range of apparel categories.
- Research and identify on trend inspiration, silhouettes, trim, fabrics, and sketch and CAD designs to present collections around the season’s intent.
- Must be well versed in the totality of the design process from concept research and creating inspirational mood boards to presenting complete CAD designs and prototypes to Founder and Leadership.
- Work closely with Founder on collaboration design projects from concept to finished product.
- Effectively use Adobe Illustrator for the CADing of design work and presentations.
- Utilize extensive knowledge of construction to create tech packs and generate specs.
- Ensure that all designs meet product specifications, quality standards and cost targets.
- Review and fit all prototypes and samples on fit model and provide comments for revisions in accordance with tight deadlines.
- Leverage consumer knowledge to inform design decisions, and act as design point person for cross functional partners in merchandising, production/sourcing to ensure design deliverables and timelines are met.
