What is the Role?

We are looking for an Apparel Designer to join our design team. You will be responsible for trend forecast and design, creating technical sketches, overseeing design and development processes, and managing design development with overseas factories. Detailed responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing design concepts for tops and dresses for Missy, maternity, and plus size ensuring that designs align with Wal-Mart’s and other partner retailer brands and quality standards.
  • Creating detailed technical sketches and CADs that pay close attention to detail, function, and fit.
  • Collaborating with the team in China to oversee the development process, address any design-related issues, and ensure timely delivery of samples for meetings.
  • Participating in fittings and reviewing samples to provide feedback on fit, construction, and design details.
  • Communicating effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and manufacturers to facilitate a smooth workflow and successful product launches.
  • Staying informed about industry developments, competitor activities, and customer preferences.
  • Researching current trends in the fashion market, materials, and techniques to drive innovation.

What is required?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field.
  • 2-5+ years of experience as an Apparel Designer. Experience working on apparel for Wal-Mart is a plus but not required.
  • Previous experience in designing maternity is a plus but not required.
  • Proficiency in creating technical sketches using design software such as Adobe Illustrator and photoshop. 3D design is a plus but not required.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, fabric properties, and production processes.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and meet project deadlines.
  • Passion for fashion design, creativity, and a keen eye for detail.

  • Self-starter, proactive, ability to prioritize and shift focus with ease and flexibility - you are excited to dive in, build quickly and drive output.
  • Not afraid to jump in where needed - no task is too big or too small for you, and you are willing to help your team before you are asked.
  • Desire to be part of a tight-knit team and comfortable working with ambiguity.
  • Must be able to work in person at our Culver City office 5 days per week.
  • You are authorized to work lawfully in the United States.
