IT'SUGAR is looking for a fun and dynamic Assistant Buyer to join our team. The Assistant Buyer stays on top of industry and competitive trends, and is able to execute at both a tactical and strategic level to drive business. Must be a team player who is able to work both independently and as part of a team, and has experience working with the different departments (Planning, Replenishment, Marketing, Creative, Visual Merchandising, etc.).
Main Responsibilities
- Assist the Buyer in creating competitive assortments in order to increase sales.
- Partner with Buyer to develop financial goals and Identify key growth categories
- Identify potential brand and product business opportunities
- Develop merchandise assortments and marketing strategies for the retail stores and the e-commerce website
- Build strong relationships with vendors and licensed partners
- Participate in the process of negotiating pricing, terms & conditions
- Develop forecasts of weekly sales goals, monitor performance and identify trend opportunities to achieve breakthrough results/new growth.
- Maintain relationships with existing brands and help source new suppliers for future products
- Work closely with Merchandise Associate, Associate Planner, and Senior Planner for the Non-Edibles category to ensure accurate SKU data, assortment planning, pricing, and timely issuance of PO’s to meet product introduction timelines and delivery of finished goods to store locations.
- Proven negotiating skills, influencing abilities and vendor/brand management experience
- Proven experience working in cross-functional teams
- Ability to think and react in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
- Good organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling, time management, and meeting deadlines
- Learn from business trends and use learning for future
- Bachelor degree in Business, or related field
- 2-4 years of experience in retail buying; product development experience
- Strong numerical and analytical aptitude; knowledge of retail math
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
- Ability to think and react in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
- Ability to make important decisions and effectively manage the pressure of meeting demanding targets and tight deadlines
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Applications
