Associate Apparel Designer

Summary: The Associate Apparel Designer will work directly with both the Design Director and CEO to assist in the entire womenswear design process. The Associate Apparel Designer will provide support and assistance in creative and organizational tasks that fall into the Women’s Resortwear category.

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

1. Assist the Design Director in developing seasonal apparel collections within all categories (ie. Knit/Woven Dresses, Knit/Woven Tops, Bottoms, Sweaters, Golf/Tennis, and Scarves/Ponchos).

2. Maintain and update design boards with appropriate sketches, fabrics, and reference images as needed. Excellent organizational skills are a plus.

3. Review fabrics, trims, embroideries, strike-offs, and lab dips for color and quality approval.

4. Maintain and organize fabric and trim libraries, as well as protos and fit samples.

5. Create and manage tech packs and sketch updates.

6. Maintain daily communication with overseas mills, factories, and trim suppliers.

7. Participate in fittings and styling opportunities. Helping to dress models, take fit notes and fit photos as needed.

8. Research inspiration online and offsite.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Bachelor or Associate Degree in Fashion Design is preferred.

2. 1-3 years’ experience on an apparel design team.

3. Strong organizational and administrative skills.

4. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.

5. Experience working in a PLM system is a plus.

6. Understanding of technical packages and garment construction.

7. Strong time management, ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.

8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

9. Ability to work in our Bluffton, SC office.
