Associate Designer, Tommy Hilfiger Dresses and Suit Separates

Profile:

The Associate Designer for Tommy Hilfiger Dresses and Suit Separates plays a crucial role in the design and development process of Dresses and Suit Separates. This role involves collaboration with the design, product and production teams to ensure the successful translation of design concepts into commercial products maintaining product integrity and Brand DNA.

Reporting to: Design Director

Brand/Product Focus: Tommy Hilfiger Dresses and Suit Separates.

Location (On-Site): New York City, Midtown Manhattan – Fashion District

Responsibilities:

Design and Development:

  • Creates sketches for development, both hand and Illustrator.
  • Assists head designers in setting up & maintaining seasonal design style boards.
  • Creates development charts unique to each factory & sends out via email initiating sample requests.
  • Updates and maintains development charts during the sampling process.
  • Creates CAD presentations for internal and external use with speed and accuracy.
  • Creates CAD placement directives advising print placements, specialty trim, or cutting directions.
  • Sends placement directives out via email and follows up with factories/vendors for understanding.
  • Creates and maintains color palettes and color card sets for internal distribution.
  • Sends color card sets to overseas vendors at the start of every season.

Production and Overseas Communications:

  • Communicates daily with factories for ongoing Product Development.
  • Updates CAD placements for production and inputs into PLM system.
  • Sample Prep for meetings and/or market, involving hanging, steaming, & organizing current collection
  • Assists designers in domestic sample making with local factory.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Two (2) years of professional design work
  • College degree, or equivalent professional work experience, required
  • Experience in a high SKU count environment, required
  • General understanding of apparel styles, components and construction
  • Experience with apparel timelines, calendars, and development process
  • Experience in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop, and Microsoft Excel,
  • Working knowledge of PLM
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Motivated to work in a high energy environment at the speed of fashion with ever-changing priorities

The pay range for this position is: $62,000 - $70,000 per /year.
