Sundance is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Buyer, Jewelry to join our team. Sundance is a leading omni-channel specialty retailer with headquarters located in Salt Lake City, UT. Summary

The Jewelry Buyer at Sundance will drive product selection and assortment strategy making Sundance a premier destination for highly curated, quality jewelry. The buyer is accountable for category performance, quality, uniqueness and price value relationship while managing to the company’s processes and product lifecycle. In this role, the buyer sources and manages vendor relationships, and is always on the hunt for new growth opportunities for the category. The buyer will bring compelling products to sell in all channels that can meet or exceed sales plans and create a customer experience that is aligned with brand vision. This role works very closely with merchandising to develop business strategies that further the growth of the business and evolve the brand in alignment with other categories. The buying role is highly collaborative: building and maintaining strong partnerships and driving efficient and effective communication with cross-functional partners in Design, Merchandising, Planning, and Creative.

Responsibilities

  • Source & select product that inspires and delight the Sundance customer and delivers on topline business goals for the Jewelry customer. Strategize with merchandising to create assortment mix of categories, brands and sensibilities that meet the needs of the customer lifestyle.
  • Cultivate existing and new vendor relationships, leveraging necessary approaches (travel, online exploratory, competitive research, market shows, etc.) to continue to maintain and/or evolve product offerings.
  • Adhere to merchandising assortment plan (business needs, price value relationship of the retail target, cost, and margin) while using market knowledge, experience, and judgment to challenge, suggest, and evolve product mix.
  • Lead product meetings for jewelry category to present assortments to merchandising partners, creative partners and senior leadership. Work with associate buyer to ensure line sheets are prepared with all critical information (vendor, item, target retail, cost, minimums, IMU) at each key step.
  • Supports jewelry in styling back to fashion to make one cohesive brand and lifestyle story.
  • Develop and maintain external relationships, communicate key calendar dates, ensure sample deadlines are met, conduct negotiations, and resolve issues with vendors as necessary.
  • Work with associate buyer to review photographed product and copy for accuracy in presentation, critical product descriptions, key attributes and are compliant with any applicable legal requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining and/or improving the overall merchandise return rate.
  • Along with associate buyer, resolves quality control issues.
  • Participate in seasonal hindsight meetings with key stakeholders across the organization in partnership with the merchandising team. Leverage this information to improve jewelry performance across all channels.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in design, fashion, business, or related field required
  • Minimum 8+ years’ experience in buying and/or product development
  • Previous experience in Jewelry required
  • Experience and proven track record managing teams at a high performing level
  • Highly organized and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
