Summary

Responsible to follow the design direction from Nike to create women's specific swim products to perform in the water. The job requires market research, creating inspiration/mood boards, creating color and print stories, designing new styles, in charge of approving fit/patterns as well as working toward a business strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop seasonal styles that are consistent with the Nike brand direction that supports the business unit strategy.
  • Responsible for the entire product design process from initial market research/ inspiration boards to designing 2D sketches, and working on patterns/specs and fit.
  • Presentation of seasonal designs to sales or key accounts.
  • Actively participates in the conceptual development of product lines (i.e. sells ideas/concepts and convinces others to adopt a course of action).
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to time and action/ design calendar deadlines.
  • Works with the development team to source new fabrics and trims that perform in the water.
  • Research and interpret trends in styling, color, fabrics and findings for a seasonal trend presentation in global markets. Ensures that product is consistent with market trends as well as business strategy.
  • Closely works with the merchandising and marketing teams to create the right product for the consumers.
  • Direct development of sales tools such as CADS and board presentations.
  • Oversee, prepare and maintain color cads and techsheets.
  • Approve lab dip process, digital print strike offs and knit downs.
  • Responsible for artwork schematic for print, jacquards, graphic and trim for development.
  • Works collaboratively with product coordinators, sourcing, tech department, and merchandising to bring vision to commercially viable product decisions
  • Provides insight regarding style and fit of product during presentations.
  • Oversee management of Associate/Assistant designers (IF APPLICABLE)
Skills
  • Strong computer knowledge- Adobe Cc Software (Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign, Optitex)
  • Ability to learn how to design through new/advanced technology. (3D Software)
  • Strong design and conceptual skills in womens swimwear (Including Construction, Fit, Support)
  • Ability to design around concepts with a strong sense of style and color.
  • Thorough knowledge of silhouettes, fabrication, colorways, textiles, sewing techniques, graphics, embroidery and trim.
  • Strong organizational, time management, communication and presentation skills.
  • Pattern making/garment construction knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to design to cost according to the target FOB'S.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to conduct consumer research/ focus groups.
Requirements
  • College degree in Fashion Design or related field.
  • 5+ years design experience with direct responsibility for the design of a specific product category, preferably swimwear
