Responsibilities:

  • The Knitwear Technical Designer is responsible for contributing to the design, creation and development of the seasonal knitwear collections from concept to completion.
  • Develop detailed technical specifications for the Knitwear category, including sketches, measurements, and construction details, based on design concepts.
  • Research stitches, source yarns and launch swatch development, ensuring they meet quality standards and requirements.
  • Build and launch tech packs, following through each style from initial proto development through final production tech packs and PPS approval.
  • Review and inspect samples before fit sessions ensuring all requirements have been met. Attend fit sessions prepared with relevant information and collaborate with patternmakers and sample makers to address any fit or construction issues.
  • Ensure consistency of proportions throughout the size range, making adjustments as necessary. Update and release graded specs upon garment approval.
  • Establish and maintain quality standards for knitwear garments throughout the development process. Conduct regular quality inspections to identify and address any issues related to construction, fit, or finishing before production.
  • Provide guidance and support to production teams to ensure smooth execution of knitwear designs.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising on quality or design integrity.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all technical specifications, including pattern files, construction notes, and fit comments.
  • Communicate effectively and follow up with vendors to adhere to timelines and ensure issues with development are resolved in a timely manner and target prices are met.
  • Partner with overseas team members and hold regular check-ins with the Peru team.
  • Travel when needed to support the business.

Requirements:

  • Eye for silhouette, passion for knitwear, and attention to detail
  • Proficient in fittings and confident in following through styles, from sketch to production
  • Good factory/ supplier relationships. Experience working and communicating with overseas vendors.
  • Knowledge of costing and Zedonk a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace and Adobe Suite (Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). Knowledge of Zedonk is a plus.
  • Highly organized
  • Self motivated with good cross functional communication skills. Team player.
  • Ability to critically think and creatively solve complex problems with an eye for apparel construction details
