Textile Designer for Bedding

Description and Responsibilities:

As a Textile Designer, you will be pivotal in creating innovative and commercially viable textiles that align with current technical capabilities. Your collaborative efforts across various team members, including sales, will be crucial for success in this dynamic role. You will be responsible for developing and refining textile designs per the annual Creative Direction, fostering a repository of creative design ideas for exploration, and working closely with the R&D Knit manager to overcome technical challenges and ensure design excellence. Additionally, driving top-line growth through engaging customer interaction, crafting compelling digital presentations, and adhering to project timelines will be critical aspects of your role as a Textile Designer.

Responsibilities:

Design Development: Develop and refine textile designs through the annual Creative Direction established by the Creative Director. This includes creating concepts for the total bed, encompassing panel, border, and cover design.
Creative Freedom: Maintain an "open file" of individual concepts and design ideas to encourage creative freedom and innovation in design development.
Collaboration: Work closely with the R&D Knit manager to devise alternative design solutions and address technical challenges. Collaborate with design colleagues and the R&D Knit manager to creatively tackle design issues.
Preparation and Adherence: Prepare diligently for all working sessions, product reviews, and kick-off meetings. Adhere to timelines and schedules for deliverables as outlined in the creative brief.

Customer-Specific Responsibilities:

Customer Engagement: Drive top-line growth through dedication, innovative solutions, and engaging with customers to understand their needs and design preferences.
Design Alignment: Develop compelling concepts and designs that align with customers' design briefs' aesthetics and technical requirements. Evaluate constructions to select the highest visual appearance of value and quality.
Cost Management: Adjust designs to meet target cost parameters by collaborating closely with the R&D Knit manager. Revise designs or develop new concepts based on customer feedback to ensure customer satisfaction.
Presentation Skills: Create compelling digital presentations for customer-facing product reviews. Author and maintain customer presentation files, detailed meeting notes, and design development walls.
Collaboration: Collaborate with assigned sales agents, R&D Knit manager, Creative Director, and customers as required to achieve successful outcomes.

Work Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

Technical Expertise: Advanced understanding of circular knitting machines and jacquard constructions. Proficient knowledge of circular knit and machine capabilities, as well as jacquard fabric and weave constructions.
Artistic Skills: Strong artistic background with skills in creating original art, hand-drawing, and illustration. Ability to translate art into easily repeatable patterns.
Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in EAT (including Layer Editor), Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop), and 3-D rendering. General knowledge of AI-generating software for prompt creation.
Organizational Skills: Highly organized and time-oriented, capable of efficiently completing multiple tasks and projects within deadlines.
Communication Skills: Effective communication skills with a proactive approach to follow-up.
Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality, detail, and accuracy levels.
Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of proven experience in textile design.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor of Arts in Textile Design.
